Dry vs Dehydrated Skin

As I’ve said before, I really love that my knowledge of skincare is constantly evolving. Not too long ago I discovered that there’s a proper way to be layering your skincare (read my post about it here) and before that, I learned that anti-pollution drops are a thing!

Ever since these discoveries, I’ve been on a skincare research kick. With summer coming up, I know that I’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun- so I started looking into the best ways to keep my skin refreshed and moisturized when I stumbled upon this article.

Did you guys know that there’s a difference between having dry skin and having dehydrated skin?

Essentially, dry skin needs oil and dehydrated skin needs water. Two very different solutions for two very different skin needs. But how can you tell if your skin is dry or dehydrated?

If you’ve got dry skin…

… you’ve probably got a lot of flaking and rough patches.

If you’ve got dehydrated skin…

… you face probably feels tight and looks dull even if you’ve used moisturizer. This usually happens seasonally.

For Dry Skin

+ Use an oil-based cleanser, I like this one and this one! The whole point is to add back in the oils that your skin can’t produce itself.

+ Then, add a rich oil to your routine. This one and this one are some of my favorites and instantly leave my skin feeling rejuvenated.

For Dehydrated Skin

+ I know it sounds redundant, but it really doesn’t need that much explanation: drink a lot of water!

+ Look for serums that contain hyaluronic acid and collagen to bring your skin back to life. I swear by this HA serum!
