Winter Hair Necessities

All of this dry weather can really take a toll on my skin, but it also dries out my hair and my scalp, too! Though I still live by my hair-care holy grail (if you haven’t seen it, click here!) I rotate a few more moisture-intense products during the colder, drier months to keep my hair shiny and healthy! Keep scrolling to discover my winter hair necessities:

Hair Mask

Just like face masks, I can’t get enough of hair masks! This one by David Mallett is designed for dry to normal hair which is perfect for my coarse hair. It delivers tons of moisture and leaves my hair feeling extra soft!   I like to wear a hair mask when I’m answering emails at night!

Pre-Shampoo Treatment

Have you guys ever heard about a pre-shampoo treatment? It’s kind of like a hair mask in a sense that you put it on your hair before you jump in the shower, but this is specifically designed to help bring damaged hair back to life and something you use before you shampoo. I use it when I feel like my hair could use a little extra love- especially if I’ve been using my straightener a lot or in more polluted cities.

Shampoo & Conditioner

In the same line of the pre-shampoo, this Oribe Gold Lust shampoo and conditioner is life changing! Though it’s designed for damaged hair, I love using it in the winter to keep up my hair’s moisture and shine. Not to mention the fact that it smells divine!

Hair Oil

A good hair oil is totally underrated. It brings new life to your hair and gives you instant hydration and shine. This oil, in particular, is made with sunflower and coconut oil, plus it adds UV protection (nothing like that harsh winter sunshine!)

Smooth Spray

Ouai products have my heart, and this Smooth Spray is no different! It’s basically a heat protectant that you spray it on your damp hair before going in with heat (blow dryer, curler, straightener, etc.)! It creates a layer of protection and makes your hair look silky, shiny and smooth!

Dry Shampoo

So you guys know you’re not supposed to wash your hair every day, right? I try to wash mine every three days or so, but when the temperature drops outside the LAST thing I want to is have cold wet hair! So, dry shampoo to the rescue! This one by Bumble and Bumble is great plus it instantly adds texture and shine.

Do you guys have any hair-care secrets you swear by during the winter? Let me know in the comments below!

  • I have known and applied a simple trick.
Honey works as a base for most of the masks. It’s a natural ingredient that keeps your scalp and hair well moisturized. It’s known to increase the elasticity of hair and skin.
For this mask, you need the just white portion of egg i-e egg white.
Take an egg white and add some honey to get a creamy paste. Apply it on scalp and hair and wear a shower cap. Leave for an hour and rinse with shampoo.

Great post! I personally try to stay away from hair products that aren’t organic or natural. My hair is sensitive so the more natural the better. I typically use a coconut oil hair mast once a week or hot oil treatment for moisturizer. I find that that’s enough for my hair.

  • Natali says:

Oh yes, just like our skin needs some extra care in the Winter, our hair needs that too! Oribe products are hands down my favourite products ever!

  • I literally use all these products (except for the thickening spray, but I love B&B). These shots are gorgeous! x
