Apps and iPhone Hacks you Need for 2018

I pretty much have my entire life on my phone, so I’m always searching for new apps to help organize my life! The CINCteam and I put our heads together and came up with the list of the best apps and iPhone hacks you need to organize and maximize 2018!

Money

Money is always tricky, especially when it comes to managing a family. No matter how many accounts you have, whether you have kids or not, being on top of your finances is a win for everyone! These two apps are loved and used by everyone in the office:

1. Venmo

I’m sure I’ve talked about this app before, and trust me when I say I don’t know how I lived without it! Hooked up to your bank account, this app is an easy and safe way to transfer money between friends or coworkers. Splitting the check has never been so easy and you generally see that payment transfer in your bank account the very next day!  Talk about speedy!

2. Acorns

Acorns is basically an app that invests your spare change into stocks! Say you spend $3.50 on coffee – the app will round up to the nearest dollar and invest it! This app was introduced to me by one of the girls on the CINCTeam, and just from round-ups, she’s gotten over $200!

Photos

As much as I love my nice Leica camera – my iPhoneX takes some really great photos but when it comes to the photography apps I use- there’s a long list. Of course, there are the staples like VSCO or Snapseed but these are some of my other favorites:

1. UNUM

This app is great for planning your Instagram feed! You can preload captions, and easily move photos around to see what looks best. If you’re super into making your feed look 💯 then this is the app for you!

2. Halide

I’ve heard so much about this app recently and it’s so much fun to play around with. Essentially, it turns your iPhone camera into a pseudo DSLR! You can pretty much control all the settings as if you were shooting manually on an actual camera!

Travel

I travel so much for work, so by now, I’ve got all of my travel apps down! I wouldn’t be able to travel without them!

1. Download Whatever Airline App You’re Traveling That Trip

I usually fly Delta, but no matter what airline I end up on- I ALWAYS download that airline’s app before I take off. Everything from having a digital copy of my boarding pass, to my itinerary, and even flight updates right in the palm of my hand takes SO much stress away from traveling.

2. Sky Scanner

This app is great if you want to book inexpensive flights! It gives you tons of options and you can always find a super affordable flight to wherever you want to jet off to!

3. Yelp

Yelp is great both when you’re traveling and when you’re at home. Finding great spots to eat, grab some coffee and everything in between with tons of reviews and pictures is so handy when you travel! You can even ‘save’ your favorite spots by bookmarking them!

Organization

Like I said before, pretty much my entire life is on my phone- so keeping everything organized is super important to me. These apps help keep me organized, and well, sane!

1. Trello

This app takes organization to a whole new level. It helps break everything down into different lists and boards and it’s super user-friendly. You can even connect it to the desktop version so you can have all your lists on your phone and your laptop!

2. Slack

The CINCteam and I use this on the daily to communicate on updates and all moving projects! It helps keep all of our conversations between the different teams in separate threads. We even have a separate thread specifically for funny memes and pictures titled “Shits and Giggles.”  You have to be able to laugh with your coworkers sometimes, right?

Hacks

When it comes to iPhone hacks, there are tons of little tips and tricks that can help you get the most out of your phone! Here are my favorites:

1. Low Power Mode
So when your phone hits 20% battery, you’ll get a pop up to go into low power mode, right? Well did you know you can have your phone on low power mode all day? If you go to your Settings Tab -> Battery -> and click ‘Low Power Mode’ your phone battery will last so much longer!

2. Adjust Brightness When Taking Photos
If you’re taking a photo and the lighting gets blown out, or it’s too dark- press and hold the screen until the little square pops up with the sunshine next to it. Then, with your finger still pressing down, drag up and down to play around with the lighting!

3. Take a Photo While Filming
I just found out about this not too long ago and my mind was blown! When you’re filming a video- there’s a small little circle that appears to the left of the record button- if you click it, it takes a photo while you’re filming!

4. Sync it All Up!
The last hack isn’t really a hack, but I decided to include it because it really makes my life easier. If you haven’t already, be sure to activate your iCloud and sync up your laptop and your phone! This saves me so much time transferring everything from one device to another!

What are your favorite phone apps and hacks you swear by this year? I want to know! Leave a comment below and have a great day!
