How to Invest in Your Future Self

Have you ever head the phrase: “Do something today that your future self will thank you for?” I’ve heard it a lot in the context of fitness and dieting, but today I want you to do something that your future career self will thank you for. So in partnership with NETGEARkeep scrolling to see my 5 tips on how to invest in your future self:

1. Declutter

An open space = an open mind. Especially as we move into the new year, it’s time to declutter! So grab a trash bag and start purging, organize and store things you still need and will use, and donate all the things you don’t. It’s as simple as that! Having a place for everything in an organized space means you can focus better and have more clarity.

2. Surround Yourself with Inspiration

This tip works whether you’re in a creative field or not. Surrounding yourself with things that inspire you or make you happy can really help fuel your work and make your workspace more enjoyable to be in! For me, I need constant inspiration, so pages ripped out of magazines, flowers and even little bits and baubles that make me happy. Also, make sure to surround yourself with people that inspire you as well!

3. Get the Right Tools

Having the right tools for the job is make or break. And the one thing that you need no matter what is strong WiFi! At this point, having WiFi is pretty much as basic as having electricity, especially when your work lives online. Having a team so big, strong WiFi that can also perform is a MUST based on all of our demanding video and editorial needs. I know all of that can seem really confusing, so I’m so thankful for this little guy from NETGEAR! The Orbi Home WiFi system 1) looks super sleek and is not at all an eyesore and 2) is SO easy to set up! I love how seamless it looks in the office and it’s great for supporting a lot of people!

4. Write Everything Down

It might be a bit of a habit to get into, but trust me it will be worth it! Writing things down, either on paper or on your phone is a great way to keep track of ideas and it helps for better recall down the line! Between passwords, dates to remember and everything in between- do it now so you won’t forget about it later!  Streamlining your thoughts and plan of action (whether its only for a day or the whole week), will make your work/life flow be that much more efficient.

5. Don’t Procrastinate

How many times have you put something off because you know you couldnt do it quickly? Im guilty of this and do it all the time! This year, I challenge you to not procrastinate. If you know you can get something done- GET IT DONE! Procrastinating helps no one.
