The Sunglasses of Summer
I always, without a doubt, have the following four items on me at all times: wallet, keys, phone, and sunglasses. A great pair of sunnies is an absolute must for me no matter what. Needing my wallet, keys and my phone is pretty self-explanatory, but my sunglasses are like a safety net. If I’m running out of the house sans makeup, I instantly look more put together. If I’m at fashion week getting photographed, sunglasses help prevent a photographer catching me mid-blink. If I’m driving or sitting on the beach, sunnies protect my eyes from the sun. And last but not least… they can totally tie a look together.
This summer, I’ve been reaching for some classic sunnies as well as some more trendy shapes. Keep scrolling to discover my favorite sunglasses shapes for the summer:
1. Cat Eye by Illesteva
A nod to retro while still looking like a total classic, a cat eye shape looks good on everyone! There’s more subtle shades (like this pair) and more exaggerated cat eye shapes like these, so you can find one that’s a perfect fit for your face!
2. Retro by Karen Walker
I’ve been seeing retro shapes like these by Karen Walker popping up everywhere I go! Both retro cat eye (like these) and oval shapes (like these for under $15!) are the perfect example of retro shapes makeing a huge comeback this summer.
3. Round by Chanel
Round shaped sunglasses are a trendy shape that have made their way into being a total classic throughout the years. Circle or round sunglasses like these look great on square and oval shaped faces… it’s all about finding the perfect size to frame your face. Plus, the more oversized round shape like these, gives off a cool 70’s vibe.
4. Aviator by Karen Walker
Ah, the classic aviator. I can honestly say I think that there’s an aviator out there for everyone. No sunglasses collection is complete without a solid pair of aviators. But if you already have a pair, try experimenting with a fun mirrored pair this season.
5. 90’s Vintage via Forever 21
I seriously love this trend so much! The 90’s inspired sunglasses shapes are back and I feel like I’m reliving my childhood. Warning- these sunnies are super cool BUT certain styles like these are not as “wearable” and look better in pictures (i.e. for Instagram).
