Oil Wars

If you’ve ever read any of my skincare posts or watched one of my skincare videos, you know that I absolutely love using oils. They’re my favorite way to start my morning skincare routine and my favorite way to finish off my nighttime routine and I am not afraid to use them! What I love about oils, is that they lock everything in and gives me the maximum amount of moisture possible. I’ve been a big fan of Biossance for years now (you might even remember me talking about them in this post here) and when I was approached by Biossance about a year ago, I can honestly say I’ve been using their products ever since. The packaging has always been so pretty and the product inside is even better. It’s no wonder I empty these guys so quickly!

There are SO many oils on the market right now, but Im often left wondering: which one is actually the best? We’ve all heard of the usual suspects: argan oil, jojoba oil, and coconut oil but have you guys heard of squalane oil? It’s actually been used in the Korean Beauty market for quite some time now thanks to Biossance, it’s emerging on the US market and I couldn’t be more excited!

Here’s the breakdown: the human body actually produces its own kind of squalane, but the amount that we have and can retain over time decreases as we get older. If you’ve ever seen squalane used in luxury beauty products before, it was actually harvested from shark livers (eek)! Thankfully, scientists spent ages researching a way to create squalane safely and effectively without sharks and lo and behold:   Biossance created a 100% plant-based squalane, which is totally sustainable and made out of sugarcane!

Translation: this stuff is really, really good. It’s weightless, doesn’t clog your pores, doesnt feel greasy, and wont leave a mess on your clothes! Basically, squalane is the moisture you were born with and Biossance has made it easier for you to have more of that goodness using plants.
