3 Ways to Shine for New Year's Eve

So if rocking a full shimmery, glittery, and sequin-ey look for your killer New Year’s Eve party might not be your speed (don’t worry it’s not really mine either) but you still want to shine, then I’ve got the perfect solution. Incorporating shimmer into your makeup look is easier than ever and I found three great ways to do it! Keep scrolling to see how I achieved these three grown up glitter makeup looks with just three products each!

1. The Lip

Nothing says I’m here to party like your lips covered in glitter, am I right? The glitter lip took the world by storm when the iconic makeup artist Pat McGrath introduced her Lip Kit, but if you can’t get your hands on one- I’ve found an easy dupe! First, apply a bright red lipstick like you usually would. (Exfoliate, then moisturize, then apply your color.) Then, take your finger and dab a bit more of the lip balm on your lips to create a sticky base for the glitter to adhere to. While you can use a brush to apply the glitter, I just like to use my finger! It’s super easy and I can honestly say it lasts all night long.

2. The Eye

Glitter eyeliner can be kind of overwhelming. But trust me, it’s easier than you think and can totally glam up an otherwise classic look. Plus, this is a great look to transition your makeup from day to night! To achieve this look all I did was draw on my black winged eyeliner as I usually would, then I took a thin brush dipped in water and dabbed on small flecks of glitter on top of the black wing. The best part about this is that it’s buildable. You can use as much or as little glitter as your heart desires. I kept the rest of my makeup simple to keep the spotlight on my eyes. Finish it off with some mascara and you’re good to go!

3. The Cheekbones

Okay, are you ready for the big time? This look is not for the faint of heart. A good highlighter (like this one or this one) does great at giving your cheek bones a gorgeous glow- but why not kick it up a notch for New Year’s Eve? To get this look, all I did was apply highlighter as I normally would (I’m using this one here) then instead of the lip balm like for the glitter lip I used this primer to create a sticky base. Then, I used my finger dab on the glitter! I finished the look off with a rich berry lip and a strong brow.

So are you ready to shine this New Year’s Eve? Let me know in the comments below which of the 3 glitter looks you’re most excited to try.
