How to Transition Your Pet into a New Home

If you’ve been following me these past couple of months, you’ll know that my little family and I recently moved into our new home (see my empty home tour here)!  As fun and exciting as moving into a new home can be, it’s also very stressful at times for everyone involved but can be especially stressful if you have a fur baby! Mignon has only known our old house, so Allen and I were really nervous about how he would take the change. I did some research and collaborated with my friends at Petco , we made sure Mignon would feel safe and comfortable in our new home.

The first thing we wanted to do is create an atmosphere Mignon felt was comfortable and familiar. Allen and I did that by making sure he knows where all of his favorite things are: like his treats, his bed, and his food and water bowls.

Petco, which is our favorite place to buy pet products, also sent us a few things to make his new home feel like “home” while incorporating some of his old favorites as well.  One of our favorite things we selected was a new dog bed! If you’re a pet owner, you know how quickly dog beds can get grungy and gross, so we replaced Mignon’s old bed with this beautiful one from Petco’s Harmony Urban Luxe Collection, which he loves. Doesn’t he look so snuggly? We also got a super cute new food bowl with a fun geometric pattern and a chic ceramic container to keep his favorite treats fresh! It just goes to show you that even your pet products can be chic and great additions to your home! There has been a lot of transitions in our family for the past year or so. From moving into a new house and of course adding an additional member (Chloe) to our family. We were so worried about how Mignon would adapt to bringing a new member into the family, and as expected it took some time for him to get used to. When we moved into our new home it was super important that we gave mignon his own little corner where he will feel comfortable.

I don’t talk about Mignon as much as I should, but he’s definitely the very first “baby” of the family! It makes us so happy to see him get along with Chloe and be so happy and comfortable in his new home!

Additionally, I wanted to give a big thank you to my friends at Petco for sending the product over and sponsoring this post!
