Fall Essentials for Toddlers

Happy Halloween everyone! I know it’s been a while, but I’m so excited to be bringing back Motherhood Mondays! If you remember from this video – I took Chloe to her first pumpkin patch a while back and she obviously had way too much fun! It’s so crazy how fast time has flown by!  My baby girl is now a toddler. That means she’s walking, talking and has suddenly grown out of everything she used as an infant!

With that being said, I gathered all of my favorite purchases that I’ve made for Chloe as she approaches her terrific twos to transition her from summer into fall! There is, of course, a list of more practical things that a mama needs in order to transition her baby into a toddler (such as a potty training toilet and bed rail), but I will be covering that on another day! Today I will be focusing on transitioning into the colder weather months…

 1. Cardigan and/or Vest

There are a lot of jackets out there, but your thin spring/summer light-weight cardigans won’t do it anymore. A thick jacket is sometimes not necessary (especially here in California) so a thick cardigan is a good in-between. Those of you that follow me on Snapchat and Instagram probably remember this cute knitted Cardigan from Misha Puff. I also love their popcorn vest as it’s a great layering piece! (PS: Can I get it in my size?!)

2. Humidifier

As the weather gets cooler, we’ve been cranking up the heater which can be bad for your skin as it can dry it out. We turn this humidifier on every night in our room and Chloe’s! It’s a total must-have during the colder months and an easy way to say bye to dry skin and stuffy noses.  The humidifier we have and love is this Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier. This one is particularly great because it’s very quiet.  It won’t disturb you or your baby’s sleep.  If you have a bigger room, you can put it on high and evenly distribute moisture into the whole room.

3. Boots

As much as I love shoes, they are my least favorite thing to put on Chloe because I’ll be the first one to admit the cute shoes are always hard to put on little squirmy toddlers! Although I do still love her Freshly Picked mocassins (equally as cute as they are practical!) but she’s at a stage right now where she needs more support on her feet as she’s running around all day. Here are some of my favorite shoes for toddlers as temperature continue to drop that are equally as cute as they are easy to put on: 1. Ugg Jodie Starr bootie – they are warm and they have a zipper on the side which makes the biggest difference. Another pair I love are these black booties that match everything from Gap. They also have a zipper on the side which makes the biggest difference.

4. Pajamas

It gets extremely cold at night where I live, so making sure Chloe is warm throughout the night is essential! No one wants to wake up to running noses. My absolute favorite pajamas for Chloe are from Kickee Pants. These PJ’s are not only the cutest on the market, but they also warm up to your baby’s temperature! The foot is lined with super soft fleece and the bottom has rubberized spots to prevent slipping. I probably have one in every design!

5. Undershirt

I have a number of basic white undershirts to layer under Chloe’s sweaters, dresses, jackets, etc. Layering is key as Chloe hates wearing anything relatively too thick so I always layer a thin white shirt underneath everything she wears. You can pretty much find them anywhere! I have this one and this one for Chloe!

6. Sleep Sack

No matter how many warm blankets I buy Chloe, she always ends up kicking them off in the middle of the night! That’s why we always have her sleep in a fleece sleep sack. I have been using this one for the longest time! Sometimes toddlers don’t like Sleepsaks because they hinder their mobility, but I cut two little holes in the bottom for her feet to stick out so she can still walk!

7. Bedding

We change the bedding to a down comforter during the colder months as it’s the best way to keep your toddler warm during the colder seasons. I have this one and Chloe loves it!

8. Cute Fall Outfits

I just can’t contain myself when I see cute fall outfits! I’ve been especially loving the brand Velveteen… you might remember seeing it on my IG and Snapchat. They have the most darling fall outfits for toddlers. I’m also obsessed with this new sweater I just got from Mini Boden!

There you have it! My top 8 items to transition your toddler from summer to fall. Any mommies out there have any tips? I’d love to hear them. Have a happy and safe Halloween, everyone!
