5 Multipurpose Furniture Pieces Great for Small Spaces

Furnishing a small space, like an apartment or dorm can be tough. But luckily Kathy Kuo is back on the blog to share 5 Multipurpose Furniture Pieces Great for Small Spaces!

The Bar Cart

Bar cart, bar cart, bar cart. We’ve mentioned it now as one of our absolute must-have furniture items, and this is due to the vast versatility the bar cart offers. Use it as a side table in the living room, a nightstand in the bedroom, a place to hold your makeup and toiletries in the bathroom, or as a minibar or coffee station. The possibilities are many, and a bar cart easily moves about the house for multipurpose usage. Shop a variety of styles here.

The Daybed

In smaller spaces, you may not have a guest room or floor space for the infamous airbed or pull-out couch. That’s okay! Opt for a daybed in your living area for chic, additional seating during the day and a place for a friend to crash during the night. Since the daybed is all one cushion, it can be much more comfortable and durable for sleeping than the living room sofa.

The Ottoman

At the end of the day, the ottoman is the perfect place to prop up your feet while you cozy up with a good book. But the second you have guests over, the ottoman can serve as an acting coffee table with a tray for drinks, or it can just be another seat. The best part? Many ottomans have storage inside, so it’s a great place to place to tuck away blankets, remotes, and whatever else you need to tuck away before your friends arrive.

The Console Table

Traditionally, the console table is placed in the foyer as a great place to stash your keys, mail, etc. But in a smaller space where there might not be a formal entryway, the console can be used in the hallway as a decorative way to fill an empty stretch of wall. Or place the console behind your sofa as a place to put your table lamps and décor pieces without taking up a lot of floor space.

The Side Table

We saved the side table for last because it might be the most versatile piece out there. Traditionally, a pair of sides tables might flank a sofa, but smaller side tables are great partners for beds, tubs, armchairs and more. Our side tables also come in an array of sizes and styles, so you can really explore and find the one that’ll fit your space perfectly, even if the dimensions are small.
