The Perfect Summer Cover-Up

It was my first time to Tulum, Mexico and to say I fell in love with the city is an understatement. It super easy to travel to from California, the flight was a little under 5 hours. The tropical weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and there were healthy snacks & green juice on every corner! It was an all around affordable city to travel to, which makes it great for families. Not to mention it was totally baby friendly (and that’s a whole different topic that I will cover next week)! I’m back in LA and I’m so excited to share with you guys the images we took during our magical Tulum adventure!

If there is a dress that screams “I’m On VACATION,” it’s definitely this one from I.D. Sarrieri. Not only is it the perfect piece to roam around barefoot on a tropical vacation, it’s also the ideal bikini cover-up. I hardly ever wear bold colors (except for the occasional red), but I really love how well this yellow pops in the tropical environment. Maybe because it makes me look 10 times tanner than what I do in real life? I love this dress because it shows off my shoulders which is a trend I’m currently obsessed with. The silk crepe de chine fabric makes this dress super light and airy while feeling very luxe. You can also wear it over the shoulders if you want to be a little bit more conservative. Although I didn’t use it, it also comes with an elasticated belt to cinch your waist in. I thought it would be nice to go sans belt while on vacation. The drop waist detail on this dress is incredibly flattering for all body types and has such dynamic movement when walking on the beach.

When you start shopping for your summer vacation wardrobe … try to take into consideration the functionality of the pieces. When I’m purchasing an item, there are 2 questions I ALWAYS ask myself 1.) Is it functional and comfortable and 2.) can I get multiple uses out of it? If the answer is yes to both, it’s a total win! Instead of opting for a fishnet/crochet cover up (that you can never wear anywhere but the beach), try opting for a light and airy dress that works not only on the beach but for other occasions as well. I took some time to research a few affordable day dresses that can also work as a beach cover ups … you can find the pieces down below!

We shot this after lunch by our hotel. I absolutely love how green Tulum was and it had all of these amazing little details like the thatched roofs. It was so freeing to walk around barefooted in the 85-degree weather with my toes in the sand. I can’t wait to show you guys more pictures from my trip! Happy Friday!
