The Only 5 Makeup Products I Used During Fashion Week

The most devastating thing that could happen during fashion month happened. We lost our luggage and were without it for almost a week, five days to be exact. (Watch the story unfold here!) Not only did I have to worry about what to wear, but I also had to figure out my basic necessities. From toiletries to underwear, I was stuck. When I travel, I never carry around my actual makeup case with me. My makeup bag itself weighs at least 5 pounds. Not only does it have my everyday makeup but I have also carry around my shoot and filming makeup as well. So when I fly, I only take about 5 items with me to touch up when I land in a small pouch.

For the week, I was stuck with just those 5 makeup products I took with me on the plane, and surprisingly enough, not only did I survive, but I learned that I actually don’t need to carry around 5lbs of makeup with me! With these 5 makeup products I was able to create my daily fashion week look and looking back at the photos, I didn’t do half bad.

Here are the 5 products!

Skin Tint

Don’t know what I would have done with out this!

Luckily I brought my Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint with me on the flight. What I love about this skin tint, is that unlike most BB creams that give you a dewy look, this gives you more of a finished matte look, which looks more ‘done.’ Since I’m always on camera during fashion week, it was important that my skin was matte to avoid camera shine. If you guys like more of the matte finish look, I highly suggest you get this. I also included it in my fitness routine video. I use the shade Finland Lite 1. A bonus? This tint also has SPF 30 sunscreen!

Concealer

Straight from the Teen Vogue Beauty Closet!

I talk about my under eye circles a lot. No matter where I am, the one thing I never leave the house without is a good concealer. I discovered this Makeup Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer when I went to go visit my friend Elaine Wentworth, the Teen Vogue Beauty Editor and she let me raid the Teen Vogue beauty closet. She told me that this was probably the best concealer she’d come across, so I was convinced. I tested it out during fashion week, and it was life changing. I’ve never come across a concealer that can hide my under eye circles as well as this one.

We all know how important eyeliner is in a girl’s life. I brought the ‘They’re Real Pushup Liner’ by Benefit Cosmetics. It’s a lash-hugging gel liner pen and the formula is very different than the typical liquid or pencil eyeliner. It’s a mix of both, which was great because it’s a two-in-one. I usually carry around black liner, but the one that I happen to have for my plane ride was brown. Which worked out because brown is a great everyday look. I usually like to line my water line with more of a natural shadow color, but I was able to line the top of my lids as well as the water line because it’s not as harsh as a black liner. The shade I used is called ‘Beyond Brown.’

Brows

A surprise double duty product.

Thank the lord I had my Boy Brow from Glossier. I don’t know what life was before the Boy Brow. It applies really easily to make your brows look full within seconds. The color is very  pigmented. If you’re not familiar with Glossier’s Boy Brow, shame on you. Most brow kits have a brow gel and a powder color, but this has both in one easy application. This pomade helped keep my brows in place all day but it also filled in all of the gaps. I’m not sure if this is okay to do, but since I used the Boy Brow in black, the days that I wanted to thicken my liner, I used the eyeliner applicator to pick up the boy brow gel as a liner. Is it meant to do that? Probably not, but I was desperate.

Cheeks/Lips

Rosy cheeks and a bit of highlighter goes a long way!

I had this Maybelline Face Studio Master Contour palette that had a contour, highlight and blush all in one. I used the bronzer as a contour and also a shadow for my crease. It was a great crease color, which is usually the extent of what I wear anyway. Blush makes me instantly look more awake. Because I didn’t have lipstick, I used my blush as my lipstick. Usually, it’s the other way around! I dabbed it on with my finger on my lips on top of my lip balm to look a bit more hydrated. Highlighter was great, applied with my fingers, inner corner of my eyes cheekbones.

There you have it! The five makeup products that helped me survive fashion week without luggage!
