3 Ways to Style a Belt

One of the most underestimated accessories is a belt. I really love incorporating them into my outfits because they’re a piece that can pull a look together and make it look polished. Remember when I was obsessed with adding Allen’s belt to my outfits? But as my style has evolved and gotten sleeker, this season I traded the leather men’s belt for this new leather tie belt from Nordstrom.  Not only does it add an edgy feel to an otherwise static outfit, it’s also super versatile. Here are three ways to style this belt to go with 3 different looks!

1. Tying from the back

This black wrap belt is versatile in that it can be tied from the back and it looks like it can be a part of your outfit!

The most simple way to wear this kind of belt is to tie it over a cozy knit. Oversized sweaters have the tendency to overwhelm your body, making women look boxy and big. Adding a belt can accentuate and slim your waistline. In this look, I paired the belt with leather boots and comfy black jeans. I wanted the belt to be the focus while adding sophistication and a cool edge to the overall look. The best part about having a tie-belt is that it can be whatever size you want!

2. Tying from the side

For a sleek and subtle look, I tied it to the side. I like that it almost looks like it’s a part of the pants!

I appreciate the sharpness element this belt brings on this outfit. It’s subtle enough to blend in with the trousers but also adds an extra-pop and the transition from the turtleneck to the trouser. Turtlenecks are my favorite this time of year because they’re a classic and simple winter staple (and make you look expensive!) I think I’ve been wearing this white turtleneck pretty much every day. It’s a great layering piece and I love how the neck cuts off just at the right length! It’s also simple enough that the attention is on the pants. Adding the leather detail gives a chic vibe to this classic look!

3. Tying from the front

Sometimes the most obvious way can be the coolest way. Embrace this leather belt and show it off by tying it from the front!

Tying in the front a.k.a ‘ninja style’ is a style I have been seeing all over magazines and the runway. I tied the belt around my waist over the blazer and paired it with knee-high boots and a burgundy skirt. I love the contrast of these three colors together and adding the belt detail to such a classic look really gives it an unexpected element. Having the belt over the blazer as opposed to around the skirt really cinches in your waist, giving you the perfect hourglass figure!

You can use this belt to polish any outfits in your closet. I love pieces that are timeless yet effortless, something I can use to make my outfits unique. So the next time you need a little something extra to pull together your outfit, break out a belt!
