White Sleeveless Vest & Flare Jeans

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a delightful & restful weekend. As for me? It was unexpectedly stressful, exciting, and memorable. If you follow me on snapchat & instagram, you already know what i’m about to talk about. I got a call from a dear friend who was getting married over the weekend, and he asked me to  “creative direct” his big day. Something last minute occurred and there were no flowers, no decor, absolutely nothing at all. I had 1 hour to pull everything together with a budget of $250 for about 80 guests. I pulled everything together with a few helpful friends & my hubby, and it actually came out unexpectedly beautiful! I’ve never been put under that kind of stress or pressure in such a short amount of time, but it was absolutely worth it. Their reaction was priceless, and it totally warmed my heart.

Anyways lets take it back to one of my favorite eras today….The ’70s! I’ve always been inspired by women from this decade- Bianca Jagger, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Farrah Fawcett, and Jane Birkin. There are currently so many fashion moments that are happening now that were adopted from the ’70s- suede mini skirts, patterned caftans/ maxis, belled sleeves, and of course flared pants. Speaking of flared jeans- thank God that they are the “it” silhouette for the season. As i’ve expressed in this post HERE, skinny jeans just don’t fit me like they used to, which has encouraged me to play with different silhouettes. Where do I even start with these flare jeans that i’m wearing today? The stretch is incredibly forgiving, the slight flare balances out my widened hips, and of course the high rise entirely elongates my legs! I’ve always loved high rise flare jeans because out of all the cuts out there, this particular jean is the most slimming & flattering. Also this white  sleeveless vest  is a great piece to have as a Summer staple. As the weather has been warming up , sleeveless vests are great layering pieces whether it be for work or for play. I especially love this white one that i’m wearing because it reminds me of Bianca Jagger’s fashion staple- the infamous white wide lapel suit.  And to finish off this look I unexpectedly added this statement necklace. As most of you know i’ve been a fan of  layering dainty gold necklaces, but by the end of the day they usually get tangled together, and I end up spending way too much time trying to detangle them (anyone else have this problem?). So this pre layered necklace, my friend, is a game changer. 6 layers of beautiful dainty gold pieces that are perfectly pre layered one on top of each other….where have you been all my life?  This makes my morning routine so much easier when I can just put on one layered necklace instead of sitting there trying to close these tiny clasps! And sometimes a girl just has to give her usual necklaces a break and wear something new once in a while right?

Happy Monday!
