Cold Shoulder Silk Top & Flatforms

And of course… the day I arrive in NY it decides to rain and be freezing! Ugh! So I thought I would share this outfit I wore a few days ago on a warm Cali spring day. The more I travel the more I realize how much I love California, and how spoiled we are! Two things I want to talk to you guys about today–Cold Shoulder Silk Top & Flatforms!

As long as the sun is out so will my shoulders! I’ve always been a fan of shoulder baring tops, but this season? To a whole new level. As I was shopping for basics the other day, I found this black blouse that I immediately fell head over heels for. It’s a slight twist to the typical off the shoulder top with thick bra like straps on the sides. And if that wasn’t enough… the bows on the sleeves really sealed the deal for me. You might recall this white skort from my previous post HERE paired with the Peplum Top. Although I love my prints and colors, lately I’ve been into investing into monochrome colored basics that I could mix & match into multiple pairings. As I get older I’m realizing the importance of having a “uniform” down. Not that you have to wear the same thing over and over again, but have a “go to” or “signature” look. As I’m extremely pressed for time now, I don’t have the luxury of sitting in front of my closet and asking myself “hmmmm what should I wear today?” It’s more about grabbing and pulling whatever I see as fast as I can. If you have somewhat of a “uniform” down, then you are able to grab & go in less than 5 minutes and still look effortlessly chic. That’s why I think I’ve been buying a lot of black and white pieces lately because 1. they match everything  and 2. you can re-wear them multiple times and people wont even notice (unlike bold prints & colors). Only if you guys can count the number of times I’ve worn this skort on the blog & on instagram…. it’s more than 5 times! And you probably didn’t even notice! (My point exactly!) And lets take a moment to talk about these Flatforms. I’ve never been one to love flatforms… I mean  why would I want my flat foot to look even flatter? But  real talk? Unless you are Victoria Beckham…. who can really walk in high stilettos while carrying a baby? I mean it’s just not realistic for me to wear heels during the day especially when I have Chloe with me. Therefore I’ve resorted to flats, sandals, sneakers, flatforms, and occasionally thick chunky heels. Flatforms are a great alternative to heels when you want the height, but need the comfort & stability.

On another note, how beautiful is this location! I’ve been taking the time to explore the city with Allen more now that we have Chloe. We make it a point to go on family walks when getting home from work. It’s a great time for the whole family to get some fresh air and unwind from a long day!  Allen usually runs with Mignon while I push Chloe on the stroller. Now that Chloe is more aware of her surrounding she likes to look around and observe EVERYTHING! Ok ok.. now I’m getting side tracked with all this family talk. I must be missing my family. I’ve only been away from them for 24 hours but it seriously feels like a week already. Anyways, a busy day ahead in New York!
