When I was fresh out of college, I used to think that you’d be honing that one marketable skill for the rest of your career. But when I started working, I realized that that wasn’t the case. Today I want to share with you one of the key lessons I learned after working in the fashion industry for so long: versatility!
Photography by Karen Rosalie
As you guys may know, I had originally started my youtube channel before I started this blog. And when I first started filming, I had no idea how to edit videos. At the time, learning how to use the Adobe Creative Suite and even doing some photography was all new to me. But after trial and error, I eventually found my way around the programs and even got to train my eye to see what color palette I liked to distinguish my style. Learning to do these things I realized was a sink or swim situation. It may be completely challenging, but after you learn it, you have a new skill that can be marketable. Since then, I’ve always believed you should always try to better yourself and stay ahead of the market by learning as much as you can. If you’re versatile, you’re infinitely more valuable than someone who is more specific in their profession. Of course, that’s not to say you shouldn’t specialize in your profession, but being able to wear many hats in the industry can only help you!
When it comes to versatility, the same goes for fashion of course. My Michele watch is definitely a timeless piece (pun intended!) that can go with me regardless of what occasion it is. I love the sleek utilitarian watch face and interchangeable straps to coordinate to different occasions. It’s one of those pieces that can make any outfit look instantly expensive & sophisticated. If you guys haven’t started on your holiday shopping yet, I’d suggest this watch for that special someone!
Next weekend I’ll also be in Orange County at the Fashion Island Nordstrom hosting an event for Michele from 1-4pm, so stop by and say hi as well as to pick up a watch!

This is so encouraging for me, especially at this time. I just started writing about fashion and of course the first thing for me was to learn how people do this and I’m now branching out to learning how to edit my own photos but it can be so weighing down trying to catch up especially with everyone who’s been doing this long enough been so perfect.
But I feel so encouraged by this.
Such an inspirational post!! You always inspire me Christelle. Wish you much more success.
Much love,

Totally agree! Where there’s a will, there’s a way. If you want something, you have to make it work yourself and never stop believing and trying. I have followed you since your first video on YT and love how far you have come! Bless you and I’m excited to see where the future brings you!

I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s definitely about putting yourself out there and not worrying so much about perfecting everything from the start. I probably stalled for the longest time wasting time stressing out on how I could perfect something without even beginning. Sometimes you just have to take the plunge and accept the fact that you might not get the best results in the beginning, but it’s definitely closer than not doing anything at all.
P.S. I always love your lip and nails color choices <3
