As you guys know, I’ve been making a lot of changes in my life lately. As my due date draws closer and closer, I’ve been doing the best I can to read up on materials for creating a cleaner and greener home. Up until now I’ve never really thought about getting in touch with nature or anything like that, but as my baby girl gets closer and closer to coming into this world, the more I realize I want to raise my child in a healthy environment. They say that the person you bring into this world becomes more important than yourself, but I never fully understood that until I started thinking about taking care of my baby girl.
I used to be the kind of girl that just uses whatever products that is immediately in front of me. But it really makes a difference when you make an informed decision on different products vs just buying anything off the shelf. I’ve definitely began seeing the difference in being conscientious of the products I use in my skin vs just using anything. So I highly recommend doing your homework and making more of an effort to be healthier to my readers as well, pregnant or not.
It’s crazy to me how saturated our lives have become with chemicals and products to achieve the perfect skin, health, etc. And who doesn’t love a new product? Conscious organic living is definitely a new world for me, but I’m excited to share with you guys more healthy and green tips as I learn more myself! Do you guys have any tips on living a healthier and more organic life? I could definitely use some tips!

I can completely relate to greening your environment, especially now that you’re pregnant and are getting closer to having the baby! When I was pregnant I tried really hard to make sure I ate the best foods and used the least toxic products I could. That being said, I had my fair share of bread and sweets throughout my pregnancy too. 🙂
Breastfeeding just enhanced that need for a healthier lifestyle, too.
On a different note, you look absolutely fab in that dress and jewels! Love it.

Hi Chriselle!
My family has always used Melaleuca household/body products, ever since I was a baby! Now I’m married and I still use all of their products, from their natural makeup line and supplements to their natural, chemical-free home cleaners. I highly recommend them. 🙂

Thank you Lauren for you recommendation! I will be sure to keep that in mind. 🙂

These pictures are so breathtakingly beautiful, so serene. You look great, loving your hair also, it looks longer and fuller…is it safe to blame it on the wonders of being pregnant.

My advise is starting understand the INCI: the label of all the beauty products. You will realize how many “junks” they put in high-level brands too.
And later keep an eye on the kids product. For the food for the little one is: make it yourself so you ail know what you use!
Love your big-belly 🙂
Thank you Flavia!

Such a lovely post. I’m so glad you are going to move into promoting healthier and safer products. Using your platform for good will really help change things. You really are a trend setter and by making this shift and only working with companies who have better products you could actually help force common and lux brands to make these changes. We all need to do our part and vote with our dollars on non toxic and organic.

These photos are simply stunning! I’m a new mom with a 6 month old baby girl. I had the same concerns as you while I was preparing for baby. Household cleaners, detergents, toothpaste, mattresses, skincare…everything freaked me out! Then I discovered Doterra essential oils. They are life changing. I use all of their products from their toothpaste to their detergent (I personally use another product for the baby’s called Molly Suds). I use their essential oils to diffuse in my little one’s room or rub on her feer to help her sleep at night and will diffuse their Onguard oil to kill air allergens. Their coconut oil is the best and I use that along with California Baby for the little one’s skincare. You can also make your own household cleaner with Doterra’s oils and I find they work better than our chemical filled options. You can check out their website and see the amazing ways you can use these oils to live a greener/healthier life. Also, as a new mom, best investment is a comfortable/chemical free mattress for your baby and my Nook Sleep Systems mattress was the best purchase I made! For my skincare I switched to Eminence while pregnant and breastfeeding (Hungarian product that works so good you cannot believe its all natural). Hope this helps alleviate some concerns. As a new mom, I feel your pain. But you’re not alone! All the best!
This helps so much. Thank you for sharing Tiffany! Wish you the best as well. 🙂

I’m a newly mom too and I changed my life into a more natural life. If you want you can check out my blog
The problems is..you can say you are green, then promote big cosmetic company products on your site to us because they pay you for it or give you freebies Hello, they are not green? And who do you think make all those clothes for designers..sometimes children that should be in school and having fun, but have to work in a sweat shop so their family can eat! just had to get that out.

magnificent pics. The dress is so beautiful. You look really pretty.
Aw thank you Shannette! xoxo
You’re a really pretty Mom Chriselle. You are glowing and your eyes are definitely twinkling. I can feel your excitement for the baby. Sometimes, going organic is the best. I mean nature works wonders. I used to have really thin hair as a kid but my mom would grow fresh aloe vera and use the extract on my hair regularly. Overtime, they grew thicker. Mother nature has her own set of tricks.

Hey Chriselle!
For the past two years ive started using more and more organic products, especially from a really amazing brand called Maria Åkerberg Deepskin Organics. A Swedish brand that only uses 100% natural and organic ingredients. Their website is http://www.dermanord.se and im pretty sure http://www.skincity.se posts their products worldwide. Congratulations on your pregnancy and choosing a healthier lifestyle for the both of you.

Thank you for sharing Krista! I will be sure to check that out. 🙂
I think it’s really great that you are thinking about these kinds of things and wanting to make a change and be more natural and environmentally friendly. I have an almost 2 year old daughter and I did the same thing as you when I got pregnant with her.. you really become more aware of what’s important to you and what you can do to keep your child safe and healthy. I used only natural products when I was pregnant and I only use natural/organic products on her skin. Coconut and Olive oil will be yours and your babies best friend when she is a newborn until she is an adult. Also, breast feeding gives your baby the best start to life.. so if you can do that.. I highly recommend it.. plus, it’s such an amazing bonding experience. There’s really nothing else like it. 🙂
I wish you all the happiness in the world with your new baby. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.. soon, you will know a love like no other.

I was a really sick kid and when my mom switched to their products my health started improving. I’m stil really sensitive to stuff like windex and bleach but their products dont bother me at all and they work wonderfully!

I use some products made by “The Body Shop” and I find them absolutely amazing and efective on my skin. And the most amazing thing about this brand is that everything they use is not tested in animals and it is made whith organic products.
But I also love to make beauty products by myself, always green and organic (and cheaper too!), so I think it’s a really good thing that you’re discovering these diferents paths to take care of your skin and body.
Absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to start crocheting again!

I am super conscious on what i use around my girl too. For instance, i switched from lotion for my body to organic coconut oil and from facial moisturizers that have lots of chemicals to pure petroleum jelly. They are both safe on babies since i have so much interaction with her throughout the day.

Gorgeous dress Chriselle. Recently I’ve learned a lot about the layering technique. It’s a very good skin care routine used in Japan and Korea I believe. The objective is to clean, nurish and protect your skin with very basic products. Skin needs moisturising and the best is a vegetal oil such as olive, argan, jojoba, etc. There are also a lot of fruits and plants that can be used: see the appropriate litterature on bio cosmetics. The most interesting is that you don’t need a million ingredients to properly take care of your skin. Very often you see a long list on expensive (or cheap) products with a tiny part of organic vegetal extract of the most important ingredident for your skin.
Wow this helps a lot! Thank you Evgenia! I had no clue but thanks to you I will keep all that in mind. 🙂

Beautiful mesh dress, you look gorgeous! Living green & healthy is challenging but there are more and more places where you can find organic and safe products. I am very conscious about that too and always read the “ingredients’ list”. Also, lately discovered natural oil face products with natural extracts and oils and I am extremely satisfied with using them as anti-aging night serums and body care. Definitely recommend!
