Desert Heat

Photography by Karen Chen

Can we just pause for a second to talk about this intense HEAT? I know I just did a post about fall cleaning, but meanwhile I’m sitting in my 100 degree office torn between drinking my iced tea or rubbing the ice all over my face. This baby is smart for staying in my belly for another 3 months until the heat goes away! Although at this point I can’t decide if my huge bump is from the baby or I’m just swelling up from the heat hah.

As much as I love Fall and cozy knits, I’m definitely ditching that in the meantime for my black leather crop and printed skirt. I love this structured skirt because it creates a natural volume to accentuate my waistline, and you can’t tell that I have ice hidden in the pockets.. Just kidding! (Am I?) The only good thing about this heat is that my printed purse from Guatemala now makes perfect sense. There’s something so bold about the heat that makes rocking prints all the more fun. But beyond that, this bag is quite special to me because it was introduced to me by one of my best friends. We often focus on what’s chic and trending when purchasing pieces, but I love that these bags brings the focus of fashion back to its roots.

Anyways I’m around 21 weeks today, and my belly is starting to grow very rapidly. My doctor even told me that he/she would “pop” right out this month. I’ve been able to get away with regular clothes such as this crop top and high waisted skirt, but we’ll see if thats still the case after this month…most likely not!!
