Sister Sister

One of the greatest joys in life is seeing my sister grow up. As I talked about in this post HERE, she was living with me in LA before the big move to NYC about 2 years ago.  Unfortunately Jane and I were not the closest of sisters growing up for a number of reasons. One of them being that we are 4.5 years apart, when she was in elementary school I was in High school, and when she was in High school I already left for college. Another being that we were entirely different, she was a tomboy and I was always a girly girl. Being polar opposites hindered us from discovering any common interests or activities. I’ve always been more reserved and  introverted, whereas Jane was incredibly social & charming- she was quite the popular one! BUT it was when she moved to LA, 3 years ago, we became inseparable and best friends. We did everything together from working out, cooking (she did the cooking, I did the eating :P ) , partying, shopping, studying, coffee runs, and she even tagged along to date nights with my boyfriend ( aka now my husband). When she moved to NY it was quite devastating, but it all worked out since I now travel to NY every 2 weeks.

This past trip to Hawaii was incredible as my sister met us up for a few days. Jana, my photographer, convinced Jane to join us during our shoot.  Although she’s extremely confident & extroverted , she generally shies away from being in front of the camera, but how adorable does she look?

I realized that with age, besides the slowing down of the metabolism & the need to use a bit more eye cream,  the bond of a sister only grows stronger & stronger. I love you sister!

Do you guys have any siblings? Would love to know!

I love the white dress, it looks so light and delicate. I think it would also look great with a pair of Salt Water sandals, you can wear them to the beach and the salt water won’t ruin them! A red pair would go great! I just got some at with coupon code KEEP10 you should check them out!

My sister and I are 6 years apart and growing up together was pretty similar to your story with your sister, almost to a T! When we spend time together, that age gap diminishes especially since we get along so well, have similar interests and have the same humor. And we’re both Pisces, haha. Having a sister is a definite plus and you and your sister are just absolutely gorgeous! :)

I really enjoyed reading this post. It was nice seeing a more personal side of you…heartwarming. I have two sisters (one, 2 yrs younger -my best friend, and the other, 13 yrs younger- at times I tend to act more like a mother to her, since our mom passed some time ago).
Thanks for sharing your beautiful bond.

Things are kind of similar with my brothers and I. My younger brother and I were never close as young children, but the older we get, the more close we become. My older brother is 13 years older than me so it was always difficult bonding with him when I was growing up. I mean, when I was 5, he was 18. We didn’t exactly have a lot in common, and we never spoke since he lived in the US until I was 13. When he moved back, though, we started being able to bond, and now I can’t imagine what my life would be if we weren’t as close as we are!

You guys look gorgeous and so sweet together. I have 4 sisters and one brother. Being the second eldest isnt easy. I am pretty glad most of my siblings are pretty much one year apart, except for my two youngest sisters. I have to say to I grew up with most of my siblings together but now that we are all older we dont see each other as much. Your picture brings back siblings bonding memories!

Similar story with my sister except we’re 11 years apart! 2 years after she moved back from the states after college we became best friends! Now she’s my everything! Sister are amazing and yours is pretty! Great pictures Chriselle! xxx

TERESA ( December 6, 2013 at 9:16 AM )

Wow that is a huge age gap! But I’m glad that you two were able to become close. Sisters are amazing!

    Chriselle ( December 6, 2013 at 11:01 AM )

You are so right-time really does make bonds stronger. I was never really close to my younger sister -she was an extrovert, and really popular while I was the shy bookworm. We’re a few years apart as well, but my high school peers knew and liked her better than me! I was a bit jelly, but now that we’re older we talk and hang out more. Great post!

Tara Simone ( December 6, 2013 at 9:16 AM )

Tara it really is true. We all grow up a little more and start realizing things we never did before. Sometimes the most special people are right at your doorstep.
