A sea of white lace, romantic ruffles, and sheer dresses. A pair of sultry cat eye frames, decadent chandeliers, accented with a pop of color of orange , red , and fuschias. Counting the days ‘Til The Flowers Bloom….here’s to my spring inspirations.
Recently I got a chance to style the Babakul Fall/Winter 2011 Lookbook & campaign. Its amazing what a pair of bad ass heels and the right accessories can do to a simple outfit. What I love about Babakul is that it is uber easy to wear, they have the best layering pieces, and yes…watch out for their colored trousers (on my list of Fall 2011 trend must haves!)
As a stylist…you have to always continuously be building your “kit.” AKA never stop shopping. Yes, I can proudly say I have one of the best jewelry kits around town because I am constantly on the search of AHHHHH-MAZING pieces. Whether they are vintage, cheap finds, or investment pieces!! (All that jewelry on the table is probably 25% of my jewelry collection ) I guess everyday is an excuse to shop! whoops..i mean an excuse to “invest” …ahhhh ok Excuses Excuses…i just love to shop.
A friend of mine, David Christopher Lee, who is a very talented director, photographer, and founder of Destination Luxury… whom I had the chance to work with several times on different projects! Here is Jane Oh’s Fall/ Winter 2011 lookbook…a simple black dress has never looked so good! Back to Basics, Back to Black!
Alas! Finally Back home in LA! It’s been an amazing week in NY and I cant wait for the next season! I have got to say out of all the shows my VERY favorites were Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Marchesa, and Jason Wu, and Diane Von Furstenberg. I will be blogging about upcoming trends that you will need to keep your eyes out on! Also Spring is just around the corner …and I was thinking yall might need to start prepping on your spring/summer wardrobe…possibly a Spring essential fashion video?
Here are some images that photographer Ken Pao sent me from the Lancome Open Studio event. It was so nice getting pampered for once since we are always pampering other people! Again thank you Lancome for the amazing week!

Day 3: Spent the day running around town from show to show. Michelle and I met up at the Chris Benz show at the Lincoln Center. Loved how Chris Benz mixed the elements of romantic and grunge. Soft romantic colors with tons of ruffles layered with oversized capes and coats. I would call this Boho 70s mixed with 80′s grunge! SHOE ALERT: Sky high wedges for the win!
Michelle’soutfit: Oversized cape jacket with tons of draping mixed with a romantic black lace top! She seriously fit right in with the Chris Benz inspiration..all she needed was one of those crazy witch hats to blend right in with the models!
Chriselle’s outfit: Mixed leather pants with a soft romantic ruffle blouse (mixing soft/romantic elements with strong/edgy pieces are key!), a fitted tuxedo blazer, Faux fur coat with tons of gold accessories!
Tomorrow I have the day off..so we will be shopping all around town and checking out all the yummy eateries here in NY!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY..Michelle and I are sending you lots of love from NYC <3

DAY 1: No joke…New Yorkers are not to take Fashion week lightly. Upon arrival we headed straight to a restaurant called “Cafeteria” ..and suprisingly enough they have a little separate menu for fashionistas like us for a “Fashion Week 2011 Menu”. Unfortunately everything on the menu was under 250 calories, sooo ummm yes you bet that we surely stayed away from that menu and indulged ourselves into some darn good comfort food! Our first day we roamed around town, ordered room service, and stuffed our bellies with some sweets & gelato ice cream! And what a lovely way to end a day..Vivienne Tam sent us some goodies from her new collection!
Day 2: What girl doesn’t love to get pampered? Michelle and I are the ones who generally are styling or doing the make up for the models but roles were reversed today! We were the models and the Lancome Artists were doing our makeup for us! ( alas! I can really get use to this!) We also had a mini photoshoot with our 5 different make up looks. Spent the whole day with the Lancome national artists, the models and the face of Lancome, the Lancome PR team…pretty much at the end of the day I felt like I was a part of the Lancome family. It was great to mingle and get to know the editors of Vogue magazine, Harpers, WWD, Jane magazine, and Style. It’s also very exciting to know that Michelle and I have such a strong support team of major magazines, editors, & bloggers!
Lancome then took us out for another fancy dinner then ended the evening watching The American Reject Broadway show (Any Greenday fans??). I am so gracious & humbled for all the amazing opportunities that have come our way..and all the amazing supporters I have met thus far.
Also another thing I have learned to master in this FUHHH-REEEZING cold weather..is the art of layering. By the end of my NY trip…i might just have to make a tutorial on “How To Layer” or “How to look Chic in the Freezing cold weather!”
During the madness of fashion week I try to keep my life as minimal as possible. Here are a couple of essentials for fashion week…
1. Blackberry for emails 2. iphone for media 3. big ol’ sunnies to hide the tired eyes from flying 4. faux fur to keep me warm in this fuhhh-reezing weather. 5. sleepless nights calls for YSL mascara & lipgloss. 6. passport 7. my huge patent leather wallet 8. my Rosegold Michael Kors watch that i never take off.
Michelle and I arrived safely to our swanky hotel in NYC last night..roamed around the city, ate some amazing food..(mac n cheese egg rolls?? ummm straight up walking heart attack!), tried to burn off some calories by running back to our hotel. Today we shall begin DAY 1 of fashion week.

ok ok..so not literally flying with Jason Wu but pretty darn close to it!
So as you guys know Im up in the air right now on Virgin airlines.. (thank God for wireless internet) flying to New York. I was watching the Jason Wu show live and seriously my heart was fluttering so hard that I think i scared my neighbors next to me (they probably think im having some sort of weird happy seizure..haha)
I mean if this isn’t perfection..im not sure what is. Jason Wu has always been one of my favorites..and watching him grow from the beginning of his career is quite impressive I must say. This is by far my favorite collection of his. What I absolutely ADORE about this collection is that it is SO wearable and is the perfect balance of minimalism, sophistication, and feminism! The key thing is about balancing your looks….( this is my secret when I get dressed every morning) if you have a soft romantic blouse pair it with a strong pair of trousers . Soft on bottom = strong on top…Strong on top = soft on bottom. This is what I call Feminine meets Masculine…the best of both worlds!
2 more hours til we land….we are getting quite hungry…Any amazing NY food joints u can recommend us?
What I really should be doing right now is packing for NY instead of blogging..but I am soooooo excited that NY fashion week officially started today and I am already seeing obvious and beautiful trends gracing the runway. As much as I am excited to attend Fashion week this year..I also want to make sure you guys are updated with all the current trends as well. This season is for Fall/Winter 2011..so these are trends you will see the mass wearing by next year Fall/winter 2011 …so basically you will be 6 months ahead of the trend then everyone else!
So I really wanted to be a great girlfriend and come back by the 14th (monday) to celebrate Valentines Day with the bf…but there was simply no way for me to cram everything in within 3 days. So we ended up extending my flight and my stay until Thursday of next week! (btw I have the most amazing & supportive bf..truly a blessing!)
MY FASHION WEEK AGENDA (thus far): On our arrival we will be getting fitted by Vivienne Tam and her team, Vivienne Tam show, Dinner with Lancome, Meeting with Jedroot, Lancome event (I will be modeling in this event!), Jason Wu for Barneys event, Tommy Hilfiger show, Victoria Beckham show, Chris Benz show, and Christian Cota show.
I wil be live tweeting from all the shows, events, and adventures so please Keep Up With Me by following me @Chriselletweets …i will also be updating my Facebook…so please add us on Facebook as well! If you have any Fashion trend questions or something you would specifically like to see from the runway..please write me on Facebook or here on my blog and I will do my best to answer your question ASAP!
ok..so I really should start packing..but now im wondering if its a bad idea if i decide to go with an empty suitcase and do all my shopping there and come back to LA with a very full & happy suitcase. hmmmmmm…
